   SAINTS AND SOLDIERS: THE DVD

Saints and Soldiers
The incident which became known as "The Malmedy Massacre" happened at the Baugnez Crossroads in the Ardennes Forest in Belgium on December 17, 1944.

It was the second day of fighting in the famous Battle of the Bulge, where American troops suffered 81,000 casualties, including 19,000 deaths, in one of the bloodiest battles of World War II. The German army suffered 70,000 casualties with 20,000 dead. By most accounts, the Germans panicked and massacred the American POWs.

Based on actual events, Saints and Soldiers tells the gripping story of a small band of allied soldiers who survived the Malmedy Massacre but became trapped behind enemy lines with information that could save thousands of American lives.

Outgunned and ill-equipped, the soldiers battled cold, snow, and roving German troops in order to smuggle the critical intelligence back to allied territory.

What is fascinating about this movie is that not a single actor is known which makes a moving story even better. As war movies go, this one is right up there with the best. There are a few incidents that don't tie together, but the movie is so good that you overlook them. Three parachutes.
