MONDAY VIETVET WEBZINE HIGHLIGHTS
So much of the time we see things a certain way because of our background and experience, and we fail to grasp what we are aware of is only one of a multitude of possibilities. In addition, all of us interpret (or misinterpret) circumstances differently. Each of us focuses on different facets and glosses over what doesn't interest us or those things we would prefer to avoid. Consequently, everyone formulates an individual picture of what is happening. No two people inhabit precisely the same spot on the planet.

HIGHLIGHT:CHENEY AND THE "F" WORD
Vice President Dick Cheney said Friday he had no regrets about a bitter exchange with Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy in which the vice president used an obscenity, i. e., the "F" word. I thought humorous at first. What! Now, the Democrats can’t take a joke. But, as I’ve read about further, it is a little more. Cheney is belligerent and mad because Leahy supposedly made comments about his former company Halliburton.
I can’t figure out why Cheney would get shook up over anybody badmouthing his former company and their profiteering in Iraq. They are making millions in contracts and part of the total mismanagement of the war. Cheney wants everybody to talk nice; and, if they don’t, he whips the "F" word on them. And, he is not even sorry. How stupid is that for a politician. Think former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott who bit the dust because he was not PC (politically correct).
Now, I for one, think the "F" word can be one of the most emphatic in the English language if appropriately applied. However, it has become so much a part of the American lexicon like on the TV's Sopranos and in many places in everyday life, you would reduce dialogue to half. What makes Cheney’s use of the "F" word so bad is his arrogance when asked about it. A bigger man would apologize, say he lost his cool, and move on. Not Cheney. "I expressed myself rather forcefully and felt better after I had done it." Cheney said.
What Cheney is going to do, in my estimation, is be one more nail in the coffin of the president for re-election. There have already been calls for Cheney to step aside and let someone else be on the ticket. But, Bush’s loyalty both to Cheney and Rumsfeld is an example of why we are mired in an impossible situation in Iraq. I think George W. can probably kiss a second term good-bye. He should have said the "F" word to Cheney sometime ago and then it would have been appropriate.---Kelly Thomas
