MON. HIGHLIGHT:WHY WOULD HE DO IT?
Lt. Brian Smith was killed when a sniper attacked his convoy west of Baghdad. Smith, 30, left his job as an Austin lawyer to pursue a lifelong interest in the military by enlisting in the Army. Like Pat Tillman, the NFL standout, who gave up millions to become an Army Ranger; and now, Lieutenant Smith does somewhat the same thing. WHY? How does old fashioned patriotism sound?
Black Hawk Down author says American troops returning from Iraq are surprised to find such a pessimistic view of the war in the media. They see they are doing good, fixing things, progress is being made. Where is the disconnect? What is the real truth? Interesting.---James Moore
