ABOUT MARTHA'S SENTENCE
I Am ticked off about Martha's treatment and can't figure why people feel she is this awful person; think she got a bum rap although the sentence was not all that bad. I think the judge tried to be honorable and know that some over zealous zealot prosecutor, trying to make a reputation for himself, had Martha in his sights--such a shame in my opinion that a juror can't see through it all. She should not have been tried in the first place. I guess if she had fallen on her proverbial "sword" and humbled herself before the mighty court, she could have squeaked by--I doubt it.
Any woman who can tell you how many stitches you need for such and such and how to do all the stuff she does, even if she has a great staff to help her; still, to take her off the air and replace her with some reality show-now that is criminal. She has introduced to the country, a sense of style and eloquence even if she has made a fortune in doing it. I guess most Americans prefer to be dumbed down.
What did they get Martha for? Not insider trading really, but lying to the feds; come on! Talk about hypocritical. I don't want to condone, but what about all the income tax stuff that all of us probably stretch. OK, we are eating out and I'm a businessman, really it is my wife and kids, but I guess we did talk about business so we can take it off the income tax.
Martha did not do a great deal differently than most of us even if she does do it with style. Most federal prosecutors have an ax to grind and are a bunch of media loving self-servers in my view. We did not need Martha to send a message. We have the Bernie Ebbers and Ken Lays and the guy from Tyco who've looted millions for their own personal gain.
GO Martha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AMNESTY FOR IRAQI INSURGENTS?
Iraq's interim president said the offer will be extended to "people who have not committed too many atrocious acts." Let me see if I get this straight: we are giving amnesty to the very people who have killed American soldiers. And, we are doing it to get them back into the fold. We liberated them, gave them freedom; they killed us; and, now we forgive them?
I'm sure the troops and the families are going to delight in this recent revelation. If there has ever been a f.....-up situation this is it. KT
They may have died in vain, but they lived in honor.

KELLY THOMAS VIEWS ON POLITICS
Kelly " tell it like it is" Thomas gives some of his views on politics. Kelly describes himself as socially liberal and somewhat fiscally conservative(exceptions would be the military and helping those who can not help themselves.). He says his brothers, who live in the south, think he has been breathing too much left coast air. Some of his San Diego friends think he has one heavy southern accent and is too conservative. Others think he is a very insightful writer, but one "wacked out guy." What think?

Big Yawn: I'm tired of Politics Already
During this heated and overblown and redundant and long, long presidential campaign, we might do well to take a look at
Daniel Elazar's book on Political Cultures. He says that politics and how politics play out is mostly regional. He calls one view, moral, such as views from Minnesota and Oregon. These states see government as a positive force and reveres good government.
Then there is the traditional which is Alabama and Mississippi where less is stressed with a conservative bent. Then there's New York and New Jersey and Connecticut which has a high tolerance for dirty politics. OK!! Let's run out and get this book.
