If there has been a more mismanaged war than Iraq, show me.

Idiots like Michael Moore and the far left and right as well, need to be discounted but objectively, Iraq is a mess.

The only thing that is better than Vietnam about Iraq is the fact that we have not been there ten years yet.

SUNDAY-MONDAY HIGHLIGHT:FALLUJAH
Daily or so it seems, I get scores of emails, mostly forwards, bashing Kerry and the democrats. For whatever reason, letters from the troops, various others talking about how much good we are doing in Iraq, how the people support us-how awful Kerry is, mainly for his traitorous conduct after Vietnam-a steady stream of prose: letters from soldiers saying the troops are mostly welcomed by the Iraqis; the battle is being won, it's all the liberal news media's fault; We'll be home by Christmas. (tongue in cheek, this is now a joke among Vietnam vets as Westmoreland said this in 67' I think and the war went on for eight more years). I see so much of this on the net in particular that most of it gets discounted by anyone who is a discerning reader.
I don't particularly like Kerry, but not sure that hanging on to George W. will give us anything, but what we are seeing. My wife, who is in the business, tells me that the unpardonable sin in her work is continually doing the same thing and expecting a different result.
In our lifetime, if there has ever been a more mismanaged war than Iraq, show me. I cannot think of one area that has not been a disaster since we toppled Saddam. The screw-ups are legend: it is as though Vietnam never happened.
We are fighting the war on the cheap, 40% of the troops are Reserve and National Guard; untrained, unprepared; not securing the warehouses full of weapons; and worst of all, simply ignoring the cultural and religious problems that we face. And, Rumsfeld saying that in war, things get messy doesn't cut it very much.
As a former combat soldier, I understand the troops-when you are in combat, you have to believe in your cause. However, as one who considers himself objective(read three newspapers a day; NY Times, Wall Street Journal, plus the "left coast one of the San Fran Chronicle) I also subscribe to both Time and Newsweek, I doubt there are few lay people any more up on the war than me.
The war is a mess and defending George W. is hardly helping. It is the equivalent of doing the same thing and expecting different results. Idiots like Michael Moore and the far "left" and "right" as well need to be discounted but objectively, it is a mess.
Forget issues of why we went. Let's deal with reality, we're there: a prime example is what we now have in Fallujah, a city of 250,000.
In April, the Marines were poised to go in and clean house. The decision is made to make peace with a criminal and pull back. What do we have today? A "terrorist hotbed." Where is the logic in this? This is almost criminal of Rumsfeld and Bush.
Fallujah is now a safe haven for the Jordanian and all his henchmen who are thought to be the masterminds of most of the killing of our soldiers throughout Iraq. And, we can't or won't go in and get him.
No amount of Kerry bashing or posturing politically is going to change that. The only thing that is better than Vietnam about Iraq is the fact that we have not been there ten years yet. I think, Gunnery Sergeant Mark Kline's got it about right, "the 10 Marines that died in Fallujah-those were wasted lives, because we didn't finish the job." Does this sound like Vietnam or what!!!!!!
