THEY'RE BACK, THEY'RE BACK, TO SWIFT BOAT MURTHA

They are now called, Cybercast News Service(formerly the Conservative News Service) but my suspicion is that they are the same crowd that ferociously went after John Kerry. What the Swift Boat types did is take some Vietnam vets who were maybe pushing the "edge" a little and used them. They smeared Kerry unmercifully, a fellow vet who went to Vietnam and they gave the "W" a free pass; one dodged the draft and one went; guess who did what!
Now, they are out to smear Korean and Vietnam war veteran Murtha without a qualm. A..holes! One would think that it would not be easy to zap Murtha, who has regularly stood up for the military policies of Republican Presidents during his 31 years in Congress. But, if you think this, think again. These Swiftboat/Cybercast types seem to have a motto: don't confuse me with facts, I have my mind made up.
The Cybercast/Swiftboaters hit squad actually questioned whether Murtha earned two Purple Hearts awarded to him because of wounds he suffered in the Vietnam War. These guys are just as ruthless and heartless as they were toward John Kerry and even John McCain when he was running against "W" in the 2000 South Carolina primary. I can hardly believe it!
What is it about these people who do not care about the truth and are relentless in smearing someone who disagrees with them?
Talking to this group is like talking to a tree even if the "tree" has a point-- Words fall on the ears of people who love the sound of their own voices.
As best as I can understand, in the past, Murtha has downplayed the idea of his war time injuries. Authentic war heroes (including McCain) often downplay their own heroism. Do you think this makes any difference to the Swift baters/Cyber zealots? NO! We know that Murtha, McCain, and Kerry served in combat. We also know that "W" and Vice President Cheney did not serve. Remember Cheney's infamous comment, "I had other priorities in the '60s other than military service."-(comment may be paraphrased)
What's maddening is the hypocrisy of zealots like the Swift Boat Veterans and the Cyber Cast News. Murtha's views are legitimate, they are his views. Just, because they are his views doesn't mean Murtha is right, but let him express his opinion. I think Murtha is right with some modifications, but these guys don't care about any of that!
Instead of disagreeing with Murtha's views on the Iraq war, this group is engaging in personal attacks. This is not only wrong, but an example of who these bigots are. They want to discredit his service.
"War's a nasty business," Murtha. said on CBS' "60 Minutes" last Sunday, "it sears the soul. The shadow of friends killed, the shadow of killing people lives with you the rest of your life. So there's no experience like being in combat."
I'd love to know if any of the Cybercast types could make a statement like Murtha. I wouldn't smear them, even if I believed personally that they are a bunch of anti-American neanderthals who haven't had an original thought since the days of the flood. I'd just say, "I don't like their ideas (even if I did say something else under my breath)." And, I think that's probably what Murtha would say. KT
