I liked Sicko, Michael Moore's new documentary about how America's health care system has failed its citizens. I liked it better than Farenheit 9-11.
I'm not a Michael Moore fan, but he did this with much "tongue in cheek" which made the points hit home. At one point, I leaned over to my daughter, who is a doctor, and said, "I think we should move to Canada."
The documentary showed just what money has done to America's health care industry and hindsight and retrospective is really significant. As we sit here in 2007, we can look with disgust at the culprits who killed the opportunity for us to have a National Health Care system when Hillary was first lady. The ones who destroyed the plan are those like Newt Gingrich, other Congressman and lobbyists, many of whom have now been disgraced. Thinkng Americans should shake their heads.
The documentary profiled the health care systems of Canada, England, France, and Cuba. According the documentary, and in my opinion, we are so inferior to what these countries offer. Our health care costs are much higher and far less superior.
The state of our health care system is very sad. The quality of care, in many cases, relates to a person's socio-economic status. Moore uses lots of examples and highlights some very sad cases.
I came out of the documentary with the idea that truly we must find a Presidential candidate who can make National Health Care happen. Of all the candidates now, I think Barack Obama is our best hope. Hillary has taken big bucks from the Health Care industry. Amazing.
See this movie.
Michael Moore is obviously a liberal, probably a Democrat, but does not flinch from telling it like it is.
