What is fascinating to me about the song, In God We Still Trust, (performed by Diamond Rio) is that it brings us back to our "roots."
Those of us who are patriotic and love America can surely philosophically believe in all the song implies- God, the Bible, and all of America's symbols that we cherish. It is wonderful.
People, who love this song, can be of good faith and can view and interpret the Bible differently. It can and does happen.
For instance, I can believe in the Bible, but maybe not beat the drum that the whole Bible is without inconsistencies- for instance, the Old Testament has many unanswered questions; and, the New Testament, outside of the synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, leaves much to interpretation.
I surely believe in God but realize that we are pretty much on our own on earth. I say, "my prayers go with you." It is a moral and spiritual imperative. I don't have a clue how it all works. I am merely a believer. To listen to these beautiful words of this song reinforces my patriotism.
I said to this buddy one day a few weeks ago, God bless America. He said something like, "Why do you say that? Would you want God to bless America more than others or does it even fit?" I said, "Of course it fits, it is something we say as Americans----like 'Good Morning.' We don't think about it. We say it in the same way we salute the flag, say the pledge of allegiance, etc. It may have specific meaning to the one who says it or it may not. And, may have a vastly different meaning to another. If you don't like it, fine, but I'm saying it anyway." (this followed with a bunch of good natured expletives to him) God Bless America! jda

Lyrics To The Song: "In God We Still Trust" performed by Diamond Rio
You place your hand on His Bible, when you swear to tell the Truth
His name is on our greatest Monuments, and all our money too,
And when we Pledge allegiance, there's no doubt where we stand,
There is no separation, we're one Nation under Him.
Chorus:
In God We Still Trust
Here in America
He's the one we turn to every time
The goin' gets rough
He is the source of all our Strength
The One who watches over us
Here in America
In God We Still Trust
Now there are those among us, who want to push Him out,
And erase His name from everything, this country's all about,
From the Schoolhouse to the Courthouse, they're Silencing His Word,
Now it's time for all Believers, to make our Voices heard.
In God We Still Trust,
Here in America
He's the one we turn to every time
The goin' gets rough
He is the source of all our Strength
The One who watches over us
Here in America
In God We Still Trust
Here in America
Here in America
Here in America,
In God We Still Trust
Here in America,
In God We Still Trust
Here in America
